Anytime one photographer shoots another photographer, it is a little nerve wrecking…. but when you are shooting a photographer that you highly respect, it is totally earth shattering in the nervous sense and in the awesomeness level. The week Wes and I spent in Las Vegas, we got to photograph two photographers who we love dearly and definitely respect.

When Abraham first mentioned the possibility of Wes and I shooting his wedding this upcoming September I had a mild heart attack. First, his wedding is going to be epic… Abraham drives a Volvo stationwagon… he is definitely my dream client…. and can we please check out the beauty that is his bride. Susan can take your breath away in a second. She is gorgeous. Not to mention we have had the chance to get to know this awesome couple as friends… and shooting real friends never feels like work. This wedding will be one that I know we will cherish.

This session was just for play. The four of us got out there and shot each other and had a great time. I can’t wait for Abraham and Susan’s for-real engagement session they are having with a close friend (who is also an awesomely talented photographer)… I know I will drool over all of the photos they take. But for now, we can call this their practice run.

I hope you agree… It was good practice.

Be Happy and Love each other.

  • Linley: OH MAN! What an amazing shoot. I'm so jealous you got to experience such an amazing place. This is so beautiful!! 03.13.2012 02:58pm

I could easily say that Aubrey Peterson is the most thoughtful human I have ever met. Yup. She is. And she has a lot of competition, I have met a lot of thoughtful people…. but she takes the cake. (kind of literally with her cake pops she shared with us during this shoot)

I got to know Aubrey through her BFF, Jessica, who lives here locally. She and Jessica met way back when she was traveling with her military family, and they have remained friends despite move after move. I have gotten to know Jessica through our mutual love of photography, and luckily, Aubrey came into the mix.

We first met last year when Wes and I were in Las Vegas attending WPPI. We decided to have breakfast together, and I realized just how nice she truly was. I knew that I liked there then, but now, after getting to meet her love and spend the a good chunk of the day together, I love her.

Ok, I just professed my love to another human via blog. But I can’t help it. She is kind and thoughtful and one of those people that challenges everyone around her to be a better person. It is true.

Now a little of her love story.

She and her husband met and dated for 3 years before he received his orders to go to Afghanistan to do his military duty. They decided now was as good of time as any to get married, so they tied the knot and a short 3 months later, Derek deployed.

Now 3 years later, they are happily in love more than they ever though possible, in fact, their anniversary is a few short days away. Seeing how they interact with each other and laugh with each other is somewhat contagious. It makes me want to love deeper and without hesitation. I’ll be honest, every time Wes goes up into that tiny airplane my heart questions why God gave me a man with such risky hobbies, but to be married to someone who serves their country  and has the potential to risk it all, that takes an amazing woman.

I want to be BFF with this couple forever, whether they live in Las Vegas, Georgia, or Germany, I hope we always stay in contact. I’ll admit, that I am terrible with long distance relationships, but I would love to meet up for breakfast anytime, anywhere.

Love to you both.
I have one more desert shoot to share with you this week… AND a few photos of Wes and I that our two fabulous photographer couples took of us!

Be Happy and Love each other.

HILARIOUS (whether she intends it or not!!) and I'm so glad to have her for my best friends (for the last 13 years!!) 02.27.2012 08:16pm

  • Aaron Frazier: Aubrey and Derek are TRUELY A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!! I am Aubrey's brother and can tell you that they are both amazing, awesome, Goldy Christian and I LOVE being able to call them family. They are so fun and spontaneous - you have to ask them about my birthday last year before my wife and I deployed to Afghanistan and our "Dinner on Dimes in Diapers" experience ;o) 02.29.2012 04:59am

Ashley and Michael chose the most beautiful day to have their perfect wedding. Storms were expected, strong storms, but on the drive the sun shown through the windows and added such warmth. The day began as wonderful as any wedding should. It was perfect.

When choosing her details, Ashley gathered a mixture of heirlooms with details with great meaning. There wasn’t one detail that didn’t have some sentimental value. If you have followed my blog for any length of time, you know that I LOVE when bride incorporates meaning throughout every detail.

From the moment we arrived, to the moment Ashley and Michael drove away, the day was beyond spectacular. Love was abounding from every single guest. Everyone danced, laughed, and had the most amazing time.

As perfect as their day was, as beautiful and marvelous, their night wasn’t what they had expected. Ashley and Michael ended their evening in the hospital holding their family close after a family member was injured in an accident.

But that is it. Life. Life is so perfect and life can be so freaking hard. And life happens when you least expect it. Ashley and Michael you are experiencing life together. And the “together” part is what is going to help you survive. Never ever stop leaning on each other for support.

I am for certain the two of you can make it through anything. Seeing your devotion to each other, and how you make each other laugh. Keep laughing, even when you don’t feel like it. Remember the perfect details of YOUR day. Remember how your guests watched as you became husband and wife. Remember how your cake bites tasted so good you could just cry with joy. Remember dancing with each other as your band played. These are the details to hold on to forever. These are the details you created with each other. Anything that comes your way, know that you two can take it on.

Be happy and love each other.
